Working within our very dynamic environment you will repeatedly draw upon your core skills and experience which include:
- BSc in Computer Science (2.1+) or equivalent commercial experience
- Understanding the importance of User Experience & User Interface with examples of where you have implemented this understanding.
- Real attention to detail both front and back end.
- An understanding & ongoing awareness of commercial and marketing goals of projects.
- An awareness of Web Standards, Accessibility Standards and cross browser compatibility.
- A real passion for the Web demonstrated through your knowledge of current technical innovation and advances.
- An innovative, ‘can-do’ attitude and sense of humour.
Essential Technical Skills
Whilst this role requires hands on skills spanning lots of new and emerging technologies, there are a number of core technologies that you must have a solid history of using and commercial experience with:
- Web development with a solid appreciation of web site/application development
- Strong OOP
- Strong XHTML and CSS skills including cross-browser know-how
- Dynamic HTML; AJAX, jQuery, Prototype
- Strong design to XHTML translation experience
- OO PHP development
- Strong SQL
- Photoshop; slicing and basic manipulations for implementation in code
Desirables
It would be advantageous if you have experience with:
- Apple Mac OS; it's what you'll be developing on
- An enterprise language, e.g. Java/J2EE, .NET
- ORM, e.g. Hibernate, Doctrine, Propel
- A web MVC framework, e.g. Spring, CodeIgniter, Kohana, Cake, RoR
- Eclipse IDE
- Subversion
- Linux basic command line stuff; you know; moving about, manipulating files etc.
