Allistair
Allistair is an authentic computing enthusiast and evangelist with a worringly demonstrable experience of geekdom leading back from modern PCs to the Commodore Amiga 500, Acorn Archimedes and Commodore 64.
The 80s and 90s provided endless discoveries in computing for Allistair as he lapped it all up becoming a hermit, exchanging trendy friends for the geek gang, painting his room dark grey and stopping listening to Chris de Burgh in favour of MetallicA. Tea was swapped out for strong coffee, posture was thrown out the window and facial hair began.
Allistair graduated in BSc Computer Science from Sheffield University with a new-found structured way of thinking about all his computing experience to date. Now was the time to venture into the enterprise.
In 1999 Allistair started his career at the blue-chip technology company Logica, now Logica CMG, working on high-value business-critical web applications primarily at Ford and the UK Foreign Commonwealth Office's e-government project.
Determined to get his hands even dirtier he left Logica to join a small team of entrepeneurs working on an innovative SMS-based booking application learning everything from setting up networks, working in Linux, administering databases, and applying Java Enterprise.
More recently, at QAS he architected a pioneering intranet from the ground up using cutting-edge Java Enterprise technology such as JSTL, Hibernate and the Spring Framework in combination with the Stellent Content Management System API, saving the company a calculated 100K+ per year, and in the process winning the Knowledge Management 2005 Award. An interview by Allistair is given at Precient Digital Media entitled Anatomy of a Winner Part I and Part II.
Leaving QAS after 3 years and taking a well-deserved break abroad in the Far East and Australia for 3 months, Allistair contracted remotely for Now Search Ltd; a UK based online affiliate marketing company, in helping provide solutions for Yahoo and Google-related activities using a combination of PHP, Java and web services..
Allistair now heads up the tech behind Roxxor and enjoys keeping up with the latest in web technology. Each and every client benefits from his wealth of experience and is in safe hands with someone who truly cares about their work and their clients' success.
